AI is not a destroyer of jobs, but there is ‘the Nike problem’ to be solved…
The mainstream media mantra around the negative hit AI will impose on the future of work is one that has prevailed for a long time now and, in all likelihood, will continue to dominate the computing chattering class for some years to come. (Certainly longer than it looks likely to take the likes of Sam Altman or Dario Amodei to come to a conclusion about the impact of AI and jobs and stick to it for more than five minutes!)
So, it’s good to hear some down-to-earth commentary from Down Under as Robert Barrie, founder and CEO of Australian online marketplace, Freelancer, declares bluntly:
