One area in which AI can undoubtedly do good and make a difference is drug discovery. In the future, AI might genuinely help to surface a cure for some cancers, as Anthropic’s Dario Amodei has urged the industry to do. But press a button to cure every disease? Sadly, it just doesn’t work that way.

So, how can health services, care providers, pharma companies, and policymakers work towards the day when we do start solving serious problems, while accelerating clinical and research adoption of AI in areas where it can demonstrate ROI? The answer is it is primarily about the human, and not the AI, according to a recent policy conference.
