We have spent the last few years asking whether AI agents can actually do useful work. Can an agent search across systems? Can it call tools? Can it write code? Can it analyse a document, update a ticket, send an email, approve a workflow, or coordinate with another agent?

Those questions made sense when agents were mostly experiments. The question is changing now.

Once an organisation has hundreds or thousands of agents operating across different teams, models, frameworks, clouds, databases, APIs, and business processes, the problem is no longer simply whether an individual agent works. The harder problem is knowing what agents exist, who owns them, what they can access, what they are doing, which policies apply to them, and how to intervene when something goes wrong.

That is where I think the idea of an agent control planebecomes important. This is no longer just a theoretical architecture....
