Artificial Intelligence (AI) agents are moving beyond generating responses or assisting employees. In banking and financial services, the next phase is about agents that can make decisions, access enterprise systems, call application programming interfaces (APIs), and execute tasks with limited human intervention.

That creates a security problem that traditional identity controls were not designed to handle.

A conventional digital identity can usually be tied to a user, device, role, credential, or permission. An autonomous AI agent is different. It can act on behalf of a user or an organization, change its behavior based on context, and interact with multiple systems while carrying out a task.

While talking to CIOL, JP Mishra, CEO & Founder, Deep Algorithm, discusses how AI agents are changing the meaning of identity, why enterprises need short-lived and task-specific permissions, and how security teams can distinguish legitimate adaptation from potentially compromised behavior.
