A model can work through a market question, weigh the alternatives and settle on a trade in under a second. Until recently it had nowhere to send that decision.

Financial rails have been automated for decades. Orders route by machine, payments clear by machine, and settlement finishes without anyone touching it. But every one of those systems was built on the assumption that a person sat at the point of authorization, and it is that assumption, not the technology, that an agent breaks. Software cannot open an account, cannot clear an identity check, and cannot be bound by a spending limit that exists only inside its own instructions.
