After a 3-Year Plateau, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Will Finally Introduce a Display Panel Upgrade
Samsung is set to upgrade the displays on its flagship phone lineup with the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra, which hit shelves in early 2027. The two models, with the Pro being the new addition, will be the first Samsung smartphones to use Samsung Display's latest M16 OLED, Korea's ETNews reports. This is the first update to Galaxy S-series displays in three years.
Samsung Display's M16 OLED panels—already seen on the iPhone 18 Pro series and Pixel 11 series—will lend the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra COE (Color Filter on Encapsulation) technology, which incorporates color filtering into the screen's thin-film encapsulation (TFE) layer. They'll also introduce a hardware-level Privacy Displaycalled Flex Magic Panel, which came out earlier this year with the S26 Ultra.
