78% of Indian MSMEs Prioritize Operational Efficiency Over Expansion: CMR Study

India’s MSMEs are rewriting their growth playbook. A new study by CyberMedia Research (CMR) finds that nearly eight in ten MSMEs, or 78%, now rank operational efficiency as their top business priority for the year ahead, ahead of revenue growth at 71% and customer acquisition at 64%.

The findings point to a shift in how MSMEs are approaching growth. Rather than focusing only on expansion, businesses are placing greater emphasis on productivity, resource optimization and operational resilience in a dynamic market environment.

Structured digital advisory support is also emerging as an important enabler. According to the study, 62% of MSMEs recognize Vi Business #ReadyForNext as India’s largest digital advisory programme. The report also finds that 83% of MSMEs who completed the Vi Business #ReadyForNext assessment reported measurable benefits from its recommended solutions.
